On Faith, Love and Grace

These three, mean a lot to the christian and are interwoven. These are foundations on which we build our walk with God. In the first instance, it was through faith we believe we are saved. we believed after we accepted Christ that we were forgiven, cleansed and accepted. Faith also goes way beyond that. A believer is to live every single day of his life by faith. Faith gives us strength to look ahead even when life seems bleak. In summary,

Faith is the assurance of the things we hope for. The evidence that the things we don’t see exist. Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews also goes further to say that it was through faith that elders obtained a good report from God. Faith led them to do things. Faith made Abel offer a better sacrifice to God. His faith didn’t remain faith. It translated to works! By faith, Enoch pleased God. How exactly? His faith led to trust and obedience to God. Noah also obeyed God in faith by building the ark and by this, the bible says he condemned the rest of men. How one man’s actions that stemmed through faith can affect others. These sorta reminds me of how through one man’s death, all that believe are made righteous.

Abraham was called a Father of faith. How did He get such a title? He believed God even when there was no evidence of promises coming forth. However, he held on to them, sojourning, believing that God will bring about what he said He will do. Sarah received from God. She received strength to conceive the heir of promise. Faith is our channel though which we receive from God. Abraham was just like God. He gave up his only begotten son just like God did in faith, believing that God was able to raise him again and that’s why God wasn’t ashamed to be called his God!

God’s love is knowing that you are forgiven. It’s knowing that you are accepted by God and you’ll always have a special place in His heart. Love fosters a healthy relationship so our relationship with the Father should centre around his love for us. It’s perfect and doesn’t come with conditions! His love makes us hold our head high. His love is the assurance of good things to come, oh I mean the best! His love is overwhelming. Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called by His name! Great is the love with which He loves us. His love is eternal. His love towards you is as unique as your finger prints are, yet he loves us all the same. Amazing stuff!

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32

God has got your back. What then do you need Him to do for you? If you will just have faith as small as a mustard seed… Remember, faith doesn’t stand alone. It is accompanied by works. Works borne out of faith.

Grace is amazing! For me, it’s too good to be true. A good number of us have not really grasped the totality of it. Jesus however, taught grace. Grace is a gift. Grace is considered in two ways. When it is given out by us and when we receive it from God.

Grace is loving the sinner. It is not being judgemental or critical towards others. Where sin abounds, grace to save abounds even MUCH MORE! Grace most if all, is for the undeserving. It is for the worst of all men- the adulterer, the homosexual… You name it! Grace justifies a man that is not even good enough for the world. Grace glorifies! No matter how many times we err, grace screams “She’s forgiven. She has as many chances as she needs”. Grace gives us another chance to stand. A judgemental spirit from us drives men away from God. Grace draws men through us to God.

The dispensation of the new covenant is that of grace.  Grace came through Our Lord Jesus and since we have the same nature, we as believers are to also extend grace freely to men. Grace should be ministered to men through our words and deeds.

God’s grace is given in measures but it can increase. God gives grace to the humble. This is the ability to be liked and favoured by men. Paul said that God is able to make all grace abound towards us. Yet faith is the channel by which we receive grace.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

We can now come boldly to God’s throne of grace because of Christ’s blood to find grace when we need it. It is for us all. It is sufficient in all of our weaknesses.
